These serve as the launch content for "XR City," a new street-exploration AR service provided by NTT DOCOMO, INC., starting July 14, 2022, which blends the digital and real worlds through smartphones. These AR contents were developed using the "XR City Platform," a platform service provided by NTT DOCOMO. The "XR City Platform" supports VPS* (Visual Positioning Service) and features AR content distribution, billing, coupons, and advertising functionalities. It is designed so that our provided content can be easily deployed across various locations. ■ AR Filter Suite "FantasiAR" Based on the concept of "transforming the streets into a 360-degree fantasy world," this AR filter suite planned by our company offers three distinct immersive worlds: ● Magic World Collaborating with the worldview of "code name: WIZARD"—an MR-powered magic and puzzle-solving entertainment experience—this filter invites users into a world where Tikki fairies fly around. Users can drag and move the Tikkis and magical items to take photos with their favorite characters and objects. On LiDAR-equipped devices, it supports Dynamic Mesh Occlusion, allowing the AR to interact naturally with real-world structures for an even more realistic experience. ● Under Water An AR filter featuring an underwater world inhabited by comical fish. Massive whales and rays swim across the sky while cute seaweed sways on the ground, allowing users to capture various scenes from every 360-degree angle. By switching the filter colors, you can enjoy a mystical underwater setting illuminated by sparkling light from above. We have also implemented fun interactive elements, such as certain sea creatures turning to face the camera when approached quietly. ● Neon Flower A photogenic world where mystical, flower-like objects float and shimmer. Users can switch between three neon colors to create stunning, highly shareable photos. The flowers react when tapped, releasing bursts of sparkling light to make the shooting experience interactive and fun. These AR filters do not depend on a specific location and are planned to be released for use anywhere. ■ XR City × Real Escape Game "Henteko Animals and the 5 Doors" An experiential AR game where players explore streets and facilities while enjoying authentic puzzle-solving. Players join Enigma-kun on an adventure to find the strange yet charming "Henteko Animals" that have crossed over from another world, trying to restore order to this reality. Our company was responsible for supporting the AR experience design and managing overall development. Brought to life via Live2D, the Henteko Animals display comical and adorable animations despite being based on 2D illustrations. The opening movie, which serves as the gateway to the story, is also generated in AR and can be played back wherever you like. As the initial phase, "Henteko Animals and the 5 Doors" will be playable at Shinjuku Central Park from July 14 to August 31, 2022. What is XR City? XR City is a service that displays location-specific AR content when users point their smartphones toward designated areas using the dedicated "XR City" app. This AR content brings new value to the deployment areas, making outings more enjoyable, convenient, and rewarding for customers. Furthermore, because it supports location-independent AR technologies such as plane and marker recognition, content can be delivered across various outdoor and indoor environments.
